About

Manas National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Baksa and Chirang districts of Assam. Famous for its rich biodiversity, the park is home to Bengal tigers, Indian elephants, one-horned rhinoceroses, golden langurs, and many rare birds.

History

Manas was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1928 and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. It is also recognized as a Tiger Reserve, Elephant Reserve, and Biosphere Reserve.

How To Reach

The nearest airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati (about 180 km). Barpeta Road Railway Station is the nearest railhead, and regular taxis and buses are available to the park.
