Umananda Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on Peacock Island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam. It is one of the city's most popular religious and tourist attractions.

History

The temple was built in 1694 by Ahom King Gadadhar Singha. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva meditated on this island, making it a sacred pilgrimage site
